Glendale Candidates to Vie for Council and School Board Seats
Today’s general municipal election in Glendale features candidates for City Council, school board, Glendale Community College board of trustees, city clerk and city treasurer.
Ten council candidates, including incumbents Mayor Sheldon S. Baker, Mary Ann Plumley and Richard “Rick” Reyes, are running for three seats on the panel.
The school board contest has five candidates competing for three seats. The only incumbent seeking reelection is Jeanne K. Bentley.
Five candidates are trying for posts on the college board of trustees. Among them are incumbents Mary Hamilton and Kenneth N. Sweetnam.
Running unopposed are City Clerk Aileen B. Boyle and City Treasurer Elizabeth W. “Betty” Evans.
The city’s 51 voting precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone needing more information may telephone the city clerk’s office at (818) 548-2090.
