Spring Break Redux: While students at most Valley schools are back in class this week, thousands more are roaming the malls, movie theaters and amusement parks. . . . Most Los Angeles Unified campuses and many private schools shut down for spring break the week before Easter. But students at some Catholic and other private schools are on vacation this week. And Jewish schools will take their spring break later this month, to coincide with Passover.

Winning Play: He’s gone from calling plays on the baseball field to writing them for the stage, and former CSUN Coach Bill Kernan says his new life makes him feel like a winner every day. . . . Kernan built CSUN’s Matadors into national contenders, then left to become a New York City playwright. His first play recently premiered off-off-Broadway (E1).
