LAKERS TONIGHT

Share

Opponent--Golden State Warriors.

Site--San Jose Arena.

Time--7:30.

TV--Channel 9.

Radio--KLAC (570).

Records--Lakers 51-24, Warriors 28-47.

Record vs. Warriors--3-0.

Laker update--Nick Van Exel will not go on the two-game trip because of a bruised bone in his right knee. The Lakers are hopeful he can return Friday. Rookie Derek Fisher stepped in for Van Exel on Sunday and had 21 points, six rebounds and four assists in his first pro start. Fisher’s promotion meant that every current Laker has made the starting lineup at least once. Elden Campbell and Travis Knight went through partial practices Monday, their first significant activity since being injured last Tuesday. Campbell’s bruised buttock is still painful, and Knight’s sprained knee was heavily taped, but both are listed as probable for tonight.

Warrior update--Their race is with Sacramento, to avoid the Pacific Division cellar. A loss tonight means the Warriors will have been swept by the Lakers for the first time in nine years.
