Notaro Deep-Sixes Dos Pueblos

Michelle Notaro’s six-for-seven day paced Westlake High to a sweep over Channel League power Dos Pueblos, 1-0 and 4-0, in a nonleague softball doubleheader Wednesday at Westlake.

Westlake (6-4-1), on break from Marmonte League play, collected 16 hits against Dos Pueblos (8-7), which is 4-0 in Channel League games.

Notaro, who had three hits in each game, drove in the Warriors’ run in the third inning of the first game.

Westlake pitchers Sarah Koppel (1-1) and Erin Voeltz (5-3-1) each tossed a two-hitter. In the first game, Koppel struck out six and walked two. Voeltz had eight strikeouts and one walk.

Rio Mesa 7, Ventura 2--Melissa Loveless hit her first home run, a grand slam to left field, to power the Spartans (9-1, 5-1 in league play), ranked No. 6 in the region by The Times, in a Channel League game at Rio Mesa.

Rhianna Rogers had two hits and two RBIs and Robin Roberts had a run-scoring triple and scored two runs for Rio Mesa.

Moorpark 10, Santa Paula 0--Junior Meaghan Finnerty had two hits, including a triple, and drove in five runs for the Musketeers (5-2, 4-0) in a Frontier League game at Santa Paula (4-4, 3-1) that was called after five innings because of the 10-run lead rule.

Sylmar 10, Canoga Park 0--Nadine Traba pitched a two-hitter and struck out nine for the Spartans (4-7, 3-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Canoga Park.

Traba (4-7) walked two and limited the Hunters (3-5, 0-3) to two singles.

Poly 8, Grant 6--Eileen Bermudez allowed eight hits and had three hits, including a run-scoring triple, to lead the Parrots (7-2, 3-0) in a Valley-Pac 8 Conference game at Grant.

Bermudez (3-0) had eight strikeouts and two walks.

Monroe 10, Van Nuys 6--Cori Jordahl, Lupe Brambila and Monica Rodriguez hit consecutive home runs in the fourth inning to lift the Vikings (6-6, 3-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Van Nuys.

Reseda 4, North Hollywood 3--Gabriela Lopez’s single scored Nelly Elias with two out in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at North Hollywood.

Kristy Rebbeck and Stephanie Yeatts each had two hits for the Regents (5-3, 3-0).

L.A. Baptist 37, Christian Chapel 0--The Knights (7-1) had 27 walks in a nonleague game at L.A. Baptist that was called after 4 1/2 innings.
