A 24-year-old Simi Valley man was recovering from serious injuries Thursday after ramming into a big rig in thick fog on California 118 early in the morning.
Jerome Southworth was driving west near Price Road about 2:20 a.m. when a truck driven by Wayne Foster, 36, of British Columbia, Canada, turned onto the roadway in front of him, said Officer Dave Cockrill of the California Highway Patrol.
Unable to stop his car in time, Southworth’s vehicle rammed into the back left rear of Foster’s truck, Cockrill said.
“[Southworth] was driving too fast for the conditions,” he said.
Southworth suffered a fractured femur, a fractured ankle and major lacerations to his left leg. He was taken to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo, officials said.
