REMASTERED MANGIONE

As a young audio engineer in the late 1970s, I had the good fortune to be working at Kendun Recorders when Chuck Mangione recorded “Children of Sanchez” (“The Cat in the Hat Comes Back,” by Don Heckman, April 6).

Late last year, my mastering engineer position at A&M; Studios, Hollywood, gave me the opportunity to remaster (from the original two-track mixes) and cut new lacquers of “Children of Sanchez.” Speakers Corner, a German company specializing in audiophile vinyl re-releases, will be selling these records, with the original artwork, throughout much of Asia, Europe and Canada. Additionally, A&M; has recently released an abridged version on CD.

Rest assured, Chuck, the world has not forgotten you.
