Has Tigermania gone too far? Are you ready for Tiger Woods for president?

An unidentified bettor in Birmingham, England, wagered $320 Thursday that the 21-year-old Masters champion will be elected president of the United States by the time he’s 50.

In the tradition of British betting shops, which offer odds on almost anything, Ladbrokes took the bet at 50-1. The bettor could win $16,000 if Woods makes it to the White House.

That is, if the bettor is still alive.

Trivia time: In 1968, five USC players were selected in the first round of the NFL draft. Who were they?

X-asperated: Miami Heat forward P.J. Brown, one of three finalists for the NBA’s J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, didn’t help his candidacy by getting ejected from a game for wrestling with New Jersey’s Xavier McDaniel.

“He slammed me to the floor,” the X-man said. “That’s why I’m so hot. I’m supposed to slam people to the floor.”

Cub bashing: From Jay Leno: “How about Tiger Woods? You see how far he hit that ball? The only way he could have hit it farther is if one of the Cubs pitchers were pitching to him.”

Add Leno: “Good news from the IRS if you’re a Cubs fan. They say if you are a Cubs fan, you can deduct the entire year now as a total loss.”

Yo, dude: Golf World magazine reported that 14-year-old Kyle Davis of Greenwood, Ind., recorded two holes in one in one round at his hometown course. His reaction to his first aces: “This is totally rad!”

Popular player: Columbia defensive end Marcellus Wiley says there was value in being an Ivy Leaguer when it comes to taking the intelligence test at the NFL scouting combine:

“All of a sudden, a lot of guys wanted to sit next to me.”

Prompt pitcher: Jerry Crasnick in the Denver Post: “If you have tickets to a ballgame and late-night reservations to a five-star restaurant, Greg Maddux is your man.

“According to Stats Inc., Maddux has pitched 10 games of two hours or less since 1987.”

Talk isn’t cheap: If a company wants to hire Miami Dolphin Coach Jimmy Johnson as a motivational speaker, the price is $40,000 for any speech outside the Miami area, according to USA Today.

Johnson’s rate is only $25,000 for a talk in south Florida.

Looking back: On this day in 1986, Michael Jordan scored an NBA playoff-record 63 points in two overtimes against the Boston Celtics.

Trivia answer: Ron Yary, Mike Taylor, Tim Rossovich, Mike Hull and Earl McCullouch.

And finally: Colorado Rockies player personnel chief Dick Balderson was discussing the plight of the Cubs, who were a .500 team when he ran their farm system.

He said former Cub general manager Larry Himes told him when he fired Balderson, “We’re going in a different direction.”

Said Balderson: “He wasn’t kidding.”
