North Hollywood Lead Holds Up, 7-5

Victor Solis had two hits, drove in two runs and scored twice for North Hollywood High in a 7-5 victory over Westchester on Saturday in a pool-play game of the Redondo baseball tournament at Westchester.

North Hollywood (18-3) scored five runs in the first inning on run-scoring singles by Solis and Ceasar Soto and five errors by the Comets.

Jarrit Redlich had two hits and scored two runs for the Huskies.

Oak Grove 3, Cornerstone Christian 0--Josh Miller had two of only three hits by the Eagles (0-6, 0-5) in a Condor League game at Freedom Park.

Cate 4, Thacher 3--Bob Riner drove in the winning run with a bases-loaded single in the eighth inning for the Rams (7-1, 4-0) in a Condor League game at Cate.

David Amerikaner hit his second home run of the season in the third inning for Cate.

SOFTBALL

Paraclete 8, Notre Dame 1--Senior pitcher Vicki McKay provided the offense for the Spirits (13-3), driving in two runs with two hits and scoring once in a Paraclete tournament second-round game at Lancaster Park that was called after six innings because of time limit.

Ruth Anderson had two hits and one RBI and Cassie Burke had a double and a run-scoring single for Paraclete.

McKay (10-1) scattered three hits, striking out three and walking none.

Paraclete 2, Oak Park 0--Freshman Amber Hilblom (1-0) pitched a two-hitter for the Spirits in the first round of the Paraclete tournament.

Hilblom struck out three and walked none in her first varsity appearance. She did not allow a hit until the fourth inning.

Anderson provided most of the offense for Paraclete, collecting two hits and scoring a run.

Oak Park 6, San Fernando 0--Vivian Doan drove in two runs with two hits for the Eagles (6-8) in a consolation game of the Paraclete tournament.

Dana Porter (6-8) pitched a four-hitter, striking out five and walking none, for Oak Park.

Notre Dame 3, San Fernando 0--Patricia Wetzel pitched a two-hitter, striking out 15 and walking none, for the Knights (6-5) in the first round of the Paraclete tournament.

Wetzel had two run-scoring singles.
