The Florida Marlins lost their fourth consecutive game, falling to the Colorado Rockies, 13-4, Tuesday at Denver.

Larry Walker, who had four hits to raise his batting average to .507, recorded his second consecutive four-hit game and his fourth of the season. He is 34 for 67 this year.

“Larry has been locked in since the second or third game of the season,” Colorado Manager Don Baylor said. “He’s using his speed to get infield hits. The hardest ball he hit all night was caught.”

Walker hit a run-scoring single during a four-run first inning and added another RBI single as the Rockies made it 7-0 in the second. Walker hit a single off the left foot of Pat Rapp (2-1), finishing the Marlin starter, as Colorado took a 10-0 lead in the third.

Bailey (3-0) overcame a pair of two-run homers by Moises Alou to win his third consecutive start.

Bailey pitched a six-hitter, walking one and striking out three. He retired 13 in a row between a one-out single by Alou in the second inning and a two-out double by Luis Castillo in the sixth. Bailey helped himself with two singles, and he scored twice.

Ellis Burks, who began the game batting .163, had four hits. He homered and drove in two runs. Eric Young and Kirt Manwaring also drove in two runs each.

Rapp lasted only 2 2/3 innings and gave up 13 hits and 10 runs. He had posted two shutouts in Denver, one at Mile High Stadium and a one-hitter at Coors Field.

“He got behind on hitters and you can’t do that in this ballpark,” Florida Manager Jim Leyland said. “He walked the first hitter and threw the ball away. It was just not his night.”

A throwing error by Rapp set up the Rockies’ big first inning. Manwaring added a two-run double.

Bailey’s single started the second, and Burks hit his fifth homer in the third.

Alou homered in the seventh inning, and hit his sixth homer of the season in the ninth.
