Tinoco Is Still Not Ready to Return

Share

The results of initial test on outfielder Luis Tinoco’s shoulder were negative, but Tinoco is still far from being ready to play. Tinoco will see Dr. Lewis Yocum for a second opinion, said JetHawk trainer Troy McIntosh. If Yocum is unable to find what’s wrong with Tinoco’s shoulder, the outfielder will likely need arthroscopic surgery to find the problem, McIntosh said.

AROUND THE LEAGUES

Tim Laker (Simi Valley High, Oxnard College) hit his first home run for triple-A Rochester, N.Y., on Wednesday. Laker was the designated hitter Wednesday, but has been catching since coming off the disabled list about a week ago. Laker, 27, missed last season with a shoulder injury but Syd Thrift, the Baltimore Orioles’ director of player development, still has high hopes for him. Sort of.

“He’s a bona fide backup catcher in the big leagues,” Thrift said.
