Collins Scores Winning Run on Wild Pitch

Lindsey Collins scored the winning run on a wild pitch with two outs in the top of the 11th inning to give Fountain Valley a 1-0 victory over Huntington Beach in a Sunset League softball game Thursday.

Collins, who was two for five, singled with two outs and advanced to third on a single by Rocky Staniorski, who was also two for five for the Barons (10-11, 2-2).

Angel Gonzales (3-3) pitched a two-hitter, struck out five and walked two for Fountain Valley.

In the Arrowhead League:

Southern California Christian 14, CSDR 0 (6, mercy)--Delei Huntley (10-1) pitched a no-hitter and struck out eight for visiting Southern California Christian (10-1, 4-1). She walked four.

In the Century League:

Villa Park 3, Orange 0 (9)--Tina McCarthy scored the winning run in the top of the ninth, when two Orange outfielders collided while trying to make a catch. Heather Culver (8-5) pitched a five-hitter for Villa Park (10-9, 2-2).

In the Freeway League:

La Habra 3, Troy 1--Christina Gibbons (12-6) scattered five hits and struck out nine for La Habra (15-6, 4-0). Gibbons was two for three with two RBIs for the Highlanders.

Sunny Hills 4, Fullerton 2--Jennifer Hodgen and Jennifer Hilde combined for a no-hitter to lead Sunny Hills (8-9, 1-3). Fullerton scored on two wild pitches.

In the Garden Grove League:

Bolsa Grande 2, Los Amigos 0--Amanda Stone (3-0) pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Bolsa Grande (14-5, 4-2). Mary Petrie hit her county-leading seventh home run with one on in the third for Bolsa Grande.

Pacifica 5, La Quinta 1--Amanda Freed struck out 16 in a no-hitter for top-ranked Pacifica (20-1-1, 7-0). Freed has four no-hitters this season.

In the Olympic League:

Calvary Chapel 5, Ontario Christian 1--Tenth-ranked Calvary Chapel (17-4, 4-0) scored five runs in the sixth inning. Keri Przygocki led the Eagles, going two for two, with a walk, a run scored and one RBI.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Aliso Niguel 2, University 1--Candice Heath (3-6) pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts for Aliso Niguel (8-10, 4-0).

In Century League golf:

Orange 192, Canyon 196--Kyle Richards shot four-over-par 36 at River View, to lead Orange to its first victory over Canyon in four years.

In the Empire League:

Sunny Hills 198, El Dorado 215--Jin Park shot two-over 38 for Sunny Hills (12-3, 6-0) at Western Hills.

In the Garden Grove League:

Garden Grove 213, Pacifica 221--Yee Liang led Garden Grove (12-4, 7-1) to the league title, shooting four-over 39 at Willowick.

In the Orange League:

Brea Olinda 193, Valencia 211--Brad Sader shot one-over 37 at Imperial to lead sixth-ranked Brea Olinda (13-2, 7-0), which clinched the league title.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Aliso Niguel 215, Estancia 223--Matt Diotte and Andrew Lin each shot six-over 42 at El Niguel to lead 10th-ranked Aliso Niguel (14-2, 7-1).

In the Sea View League:

Santa Margarita 189, Woodbridge 209--Nate Blauer shot two-under 34 at Rancho San Joaquin to lead second-ranked Santa Margarita (13-1, 7-1).
