OCC’s Erickson Loses at Ojai
The outstanding run of Orange Coast’s Cami Erickson came to an end Sunday in the semifinal round at the Ojai tennis tournament.
A day after upsetting the tournament’s top-seeded player, Erickson lost to Kim London of Santa Barbara, 6-3, 6-1.
Erickson, a freshman from Poway High who already had won the Orange Empire Conference singles titles, beat top-seeded Kyoko Maebara of Grossmont, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6, Saturday.
London lost to second-seeded Katerina Malec of College of Desert, 6-0, 6-1, in the championship match.
Malec and teammate Karia Lopez-Portiuo also reached the doubles final but lost to Grossmont’s Maebara and Caroline Medlock, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
