Thomas Sits for Second Game In Row

The Chicago White Sox played for the second consecutive day without first baseman Frank Thomas.
The American League’s leading hitter, Thomas is hampered by a strained stomach muscle, and Chicago has scored only two runs in going 1-1 without him.
Thomas is day-to-day.

Oakland third baseman Scott Spiezio was a late scratch because of a sore right hand Sunday against Toronto. Spiezio had been the only Athletic player to appear in every game.
