2 More Groups Join Riverbank Cleanup

A student cleanup project on the banks of the Santa Ana River received a recent boost from two groups.
Cub Scout Pack 775 from Yorba Linda and the Orange County Conservation Corps are working with fourth-graders from Bryan Ranch Elementary School to rid the riverbanks near Gypsum Canyon Road of the invasive arundo plant.
Arundo is a bamboo-like plant that can grow up to 10 inches a day and has forced out native plants.
“This is a huge web of people interested in removing this horrible plant,” Featherly Park Ranger Ron Nadew said.
The project will help restore the river’s natural habitat, Nadew said.
