Four passengers aboard an MTA bus were hospitalized with minor injuries Tuesday when the driver was forced to brake suddenly in downtown traffic, police said.
Four other passengers complained of neck and back pain but were not hospitalized, said MTA spokesman Ed Scannell. “It was another bus vs. car incident,” he said.
The accident occurred about 7:30 a.m. at Maple Avenue and 7th Street when a car swerved in front of the bus, investigators said. The bus lightly hit the back of the car, which sped away.
The driver later returned to the scene, and police said he could face misdemeanor hit-and-run charges. The passengers, one of whom suffered facial cuts, were treated at County-USC Medical Center.
