A 37-year-old man believed to be involved in drug sales was shot to death in his bedroom by two men who broke into his house early Friday, according to authorities.

The dead man was identified as Jesus Herrera, said Det. Rick Swanston of the Los Angeles Police Department West Valley Division.

Two men forced their way into Herrera’s house in the 7100 block of Amigo Avenue just before 3 a.m., authorities said. They went into the bedroom where he was sleeping with his wife, Rosie, and shot him several times in the head and chest with pistols, Swanston said.

Rosie Herrera, who escaped through a window, was not injured.

After the killers fled, she called police and paramedics, authorities said. Jesus Herrera was pronounced dead at the scene.

The initial investigation revealed that Jesus Herrera was involved in sales of narcotics, and the killing could have been related to those activities, Swanston said.

There were no descriptions of the killers, he said.
