Mercury Rises in Standings
Jennifer Gillom scored 13 of her 19 points in the second half at Phoenix as the Mercury increased its lead atop the Western Conference with a 61-55 victory over the Cleveland Rockers on Thursday before a crowd of 11,818.
The Mercury holds a two game lead over the Sparks.
Cleveland, losing for the fourth time in five games, was led by Merlakia Jones’ 14 points off the bench.
Charlotte 68, Sacramento 61--Andrea Stinson scored 16 points to lead the Sting (12-10) past the Monarchs (9-15) before 6,045 at Charlotte, N.C.
Ruthie Bolton-Holifield scored 13 points to lead Sacramento.
