Zodiac update--The Vancouver 86ers’ 3-1 victory over the Zodiacs Sunday eliminated Orange County from playoff contention. The Zodiac has four remaining regular-season games, three on the road. The team will play its final home game at 5 p.m. Sunday against Vancouver. Zodiac forward Gustavo Leal is tied for third in the A League in goals (15) and fourth in scoring (31 points). The Zodiac has performed well against the Jaguars, winning its first two matchups, 2-1 and 3-1. In its most recent game, the Zodiac controlled most of the game but lost, 1-0, when Jerome Watson scored with four minutes left.
Jaguar update--California, tied for fourth with Colorado in the Pacific Division, has won two consecutive games but hasn’t played since Aug. 10 when the Jaguars beat Atlanta. The Jaguars are led by Mark Baena, who has 14 goals and 31 points.
