CHP Urges Caution During the Holiday

Share

The California Highway Patrol is warning drivers that officers will vigorously enforce speed, safety, seat-belt and drinking-and-driving laws over the Labor Day weekend.

At least 70% of the local CHP force will patrol Orange County freeways this weekend.

Holiday weekend pullovers typically net several violations. Last year, CHP officers stationed in the Westminster bureau made 20 arrests for drunken driving and issued 182 citations for speed and safety-belt violations.

Officers expect to match or exceed those figures this weekend.

Drivers should act cautiously and be aware that others near them may be under the influence. Officers suggest leaving a safe distance between cars, at least two seconds.
