The Cannery Denied Entertainment Permit

Saying they did not want to exacerbate alcohol-related problems in Cannery Village, the City Council on Monday denied the Cannery a permit to have live entertainment and dancing.

“We have to start making the Peninsula more livable,” Councilwoman Norma Glover said.

Cannery Village residents have complained for years that they are disturbed by bar patrons who make noise, vandalize their homes and urinate in public.

The Cannery owner Bill Hamilton said he did not know if his business would survive without dancing and music. “We have to fight for our share of the market, and it is getting more and more difficult,” he said.
