Eastwoods Give $6-Million Ranch to Big Sur Land Trust
Actor Clint Eastwood and his former wife, Maggie, on Thursday said they will transfer $6-million worth of ranch property on the Central California coast to the Big Sur Land Trust.
Known as the Coast Ranch, the 134-acre parcel is on the east side of scenic California 1 in Monterey County. It was formerly known as the Odello Artichoke Fields before the Eastwoods, who remain business partners, purchased the property in 1995.
Sixty-seven of 73 lots in a subdivision on the ranch will be kept as open space, according to land trust officials.
“We were very enthusiastic to work with the Big Sur Land Trust because of all the wonderful things they have done for our community,” Clint Eastwood said.
The ranch is among several pieces of property the Eastwoods have donated or opted not to develop in Monterey County. Those properties include 340 acres in Carmel Valley for a senior housing project.
