Findings in Baby’s Death to be Released Today
Coroner’s examiners expect to release today partial results on a baby boy who was born Friday, then stuffed into a backpack and hidden under a bed.
Some findings of the examination will be reported to sheriff’s investigators, said coroner’s Lt. Fred Corral, but the results of a toxicology test ma not be available.
Sheriff’s officials said the boy was born to an 18-year-old El Monte woman Friday. Investigators discovered the infant after the woman, who had been hospitalized for bleeding, told medical personnel that she had given birth. The woman’s name has not been released, and she has not been arrested.
