Deadline Nears for Entries in King Art, Essay Contest
Midnight Friday is the deadline for entries in the Martin Luther King Legacy Assn. annual King Week Art and Essay Contest, which is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade who attend schools in Los Angeles County.
This year’s theme is “Education: What Is Its Goal?” Essays and art entries must express this theme and its relationship to King’s philosophy, contest organizers said. The winner will be announced during the King Week Festival held downtown Jan. 24.
Submissions must be accompanied by an official entry form and can be mailed to Goldie Buchanan, contest coordinator, 1998 Art and Essay Contest, 4182 S. Western Ave, L.A., CA 90062.
