Herrmann Honored by U.S. Water Polo

Laguna Niguel’s Alan Herrmann was named Friday as Division I water polo player of the year by U.S. Water Polo. Herrmann, who led Pepperdine to the NCAA title this year, was a senior two-meter man who played at Dana Hills High.
Herrmann is joined on the All-American first team by Stanford’s Brian Heifferon, a sophomore defender who played at Servite. Pepperdine’s Terry Schroeder was named coach of the year.
UC Irvine’s Robert Allaire was selected to the second team. Allaire, a senior, scored 40 points this season. UCI goalkeeper Tom Davis (La Habra High) and Greg Finley were honorable mention, along with Christian Jensen (Pepperdine/Laguna Beach), and David Hay (Stanford/Foothill).
