Fullove Carries Simi Valley in Vegas

Branduinn Fullove had 29 points, seven rebounds and three assists to help Simi Valley High to an 84-67 victory over previously undefeated Denver Manual in a second-round game of the Las Vegas boys’ basketball tournament at Cimarron Memorial High on Saturday.
Fullove, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, hit 11 of 17 shots from the field and 6-9 junior Rafael Berumen had 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Pioneers (7-0), who were scheduled to play Fresno Washington in a third-round game that started late Saturday night.
Manual entered the game with a 5-0 record, but the Thunderbolts made only 26 of 72 shots (36.1%) while Simi Valley was 28 of 55 (50.9%).
Senior Ian Boys had 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists and junior Kurt Mjoen had 11 points and five assists for the Pioneers, the top-ranked team in The Times’ regional poll.
In other Las Vegas tournament games:
Newbury Park 60, Upper St. Clair (Penn.) 54--Daniel Bobik was five of 15 from the field, but still had 16 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals for the No. 6-ranked Panthers (8-3) in a consolation game.
Mike Meru scored 12 points for the Panthers and Brian Bobik, Daniel’s brother, had 10 points.
Harvard-Westlake 61, Basic (Nev.) 46--Russell Lakey had 16 points and three steals for the Wolverines (7-1) in a consolation game.
Alex Holmes had 12 points and nine rebounds for the No. 4-ranked Wolverines, who outrebounded Basic, 40-26.
In other games:
Hoover 84, Westminster 64--Mark Hull scored 10 of his 29 points in the third quarter and the Tornadoes (8-2) outscored Westminster, 24-5, in the period in pool play of the Sonora tournament.
Lancaster 53, Huntington Park 52--Freshman Anthony Gamboa, making his first start after being brought up from the junior varsity, sank a free throw with 17 seconds remaining to give the Eagles (2-7) a victory in the 13th-place game at the Glendora tournament.
Brentwood 78, L.A. Baptist 72--Frank Vasquez scored 25 points for the Knights (3-5) in the Carpinteria tournament third-place game.
GIRLS
Louisville 59, Sacred Heart of Jesus 44--Megan Wiser had 17 points and Teresa Delgado had 14 points, eight rebounds and five steals for the Royals (8-0) in a nonleague game at Louisville.
