Australian golfer Lucas Parsons regained his composure after a bird swooped at him on the first tee at the Coolum Classic in Australia. In fact, he ended the day with the lead.

Parson, starting his second round, was in the middle of his backswing when the bird dived at his face.

Not surprisingly, his drive flew left into some palm trees.

Still shaken by the aerial attack, Parsons missed making a birdie on the hole.

Good thing the birdie missed him.

‘Husker hype: This season’s Nebraska football team is 12-0, ranked No. 2 and may be one of the best Cornhusker squads of all time. However, one former Nebraska star says it is not the best.

Then again, Tommie Frazier is biased.

“I don’t see this debate about this team comparing to the 1995 team,” said the quarterback who helped Nebraska to national titles in 1994 and 1995. “Look at the caliber of athletes and teams we played that year, and nobody came close.”

The first championship was more of a challenge, with Frazier sidelined most of the season because of blood clots, but the 1995 Cornhuskers destroyed every opponent they faced.

Travel planning: Jayson Williams, the New Jersey Nets’ center, usually spends the NBA’s All-Star weekend vacationing in some tropical locale. This season, he may be staying home--and participating in the game.

“The All-Star game, that would be the ultimate,” said Williams, who is tied with Dennis Rodman as the league’s leading rebounder. “I’m scared to even think about it. I keep saying, ‘Let’s make plans for Puerto Rico,’ and my brother keeps saying, ‘Nah, you’re going to the All-Star game.’ ”
