Cal State Northridge ended a losing streak at three games by defeating North Florida 76-62 in the consolation game of the Fresno State Tournament.

Northridge (3-6) built a 35-point lead midway through the second half after leading at halftime, 47-24. The Matadors had 19 steals and the Division II Ospreys (1-4) finished with 28 turnovers.

“We did some soul-searching, came out and showed intensity and played a lot better defense,” Northridge Coach Bobby Braswell said. The Matadors held a two-hour, players-only meeting after Monday’s 102-86 loss to Long Island, and canceled their shootaround Tuesday too meet with coaches.

Mike O’Quinn had 21 points and Jabari Simmons had 16 for Northridge. Lucky Grundy had eight assists and Trenton Cross had six.
