Wright Doing Job on the Boards

Forward Lorenzen Wright, who has averaged 17.2 rebounds in his last six games, had a career-best 32 points in Friday night’s loss to the Lakers.

“He’s going to be a very good player if he works at his job,” Clipper Coach Bill Fitch said. “He had the opportunities tonight because of the defense the Lakers played.

“He’s got the ability to be a total player. Right now he’s zeroing in on his rebounding because that’s what the team needs. It’s what we lost when we lost Loy [Vaught]. I think he’s been told and he’s wise enough to understand what he’s been told. We really need somebody to get in there and rebound for us.”

Fitch said forward Lamond Murray, expected to be sidelined for seven to 10 days after spraining his right wrist in Sunday night’s 22-point loss at Boston, is making progress.

“Some of the swelling has gone down,” Fitch said.

Murray, averaging 16.9 points when playing 25 minutes or more, was injured when he fell after taking a charge in the second quarter.
