Dollar Negotiating for Assistant’s Job

Former UCLA guard Cameron Dollar is close to becoming an assistant coach at UC Irvine.

Dollar, the Bruins’ starting point guard the last two seasons, is working out contract details with Irvine Coach Pat Douglass. Dollar is seeking a one-year contract as the Anteaters’ third assistant coach. Douglass is looking for a two-year commitment, a source said.

Benita Martin and Francine Moreno have been hired as assistant coaches for the UC Irvine women’s basketball team.

Martin, who played at Colorado, was an assistant at Wisconsin-Milwaukee last season. She was an assistant at Metro State (Colo.) for three seasons and Northern Colorado for three seasons.

Moreno played the last four seasons at New Mexico.

Teniesha Bayless has orally committed to play women’s basketball at UC Irvine, said Martin Bayless, her father.

Bayless is a 5-foot-8 guard from San Diego Mount Carmel High. She was a two-time All-North County Conference selection.
