Liberty Stays Undefeated, Beats Comets

HOUSTON —
Sophia Witherspoon scored 21 points as the New York Liberty remained the WNBA’s only unbeaten team after a 65-58 victory over the Houston Comets in front of an announced crowd of 10,239 at the Summit on Friday.
Witherspoon made eight of 13 shots from the field, including three three-point goals for New York (6-0).
Houston (4-3) led, 31-26, at halftime, but New York’s defense tightened in the second half. Former USC star Tina Thompson led Houston with 15 points.
