David Bowie has recorded a Mandarin version of “Seven Years in Tibet,” a song from his latest album, “Earthling,” for release as a single in Asia. Renamed “A Fleeting Moment,” the literal translation of its title in Chinese, the song is already receiving airplay in Hong Kong and Malaysia prior to its July 9 release. . . .

The late Tupac Shakur is featured on “Thug Love,” a cut from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s upcoming two-disc album “The Art of War,” which is due July 29 from Ruthless/Relativity Records. . . . Janis Ian’s new album “Hunger,” due Sept. 16 on Windham Hill, includes a guest appearance by Ani DiFranco, who produced, sang background vocals and played bass on a song titled “Searching for America.”
