Stark Is Strong in JetHawk Debut

Pitcher Dennis Stark was impressive in his California League debut and the Lancaster JetHawks continued their hot start to the second half of the season with a 7-2 victory Sunday over the High Desert Mavericks in Adelanto.
Stark, a right-hander who joined the JetHawks from Class A Wisconsin last week, pitched eight innings, striking out 10, walking three and allowing two hits. The only run he allowed was unearned--a fourth-inning home run by Mike Stoner--and he retired the last 14 batters he faced.
Homers by Joe Mathis and Jason Regan keyed an 11-hit attack by the JetHawks (12-5), who have won eight of the past nine games.
