A new $10-million cancer treatment and information center will open officially Saturday at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center.

Housed in a 75,000-square-foot complex, the Orange County Regional Cancer Center will include an American Cancer Society information area plus facilities for breast cancer and radiation oncology services, research and outpatient surgery.

“The new building consolidates our premier cancer services in one facility, increasing access to care and information,” said Tim Smith, chief executive officer of Fountain Valley Regional.

The building was completed in May, and employees have been moving in steadily since June, said Al Arizmendez, a spokesman for the hospital.

Actor Robert Urich will deliver the keynote address at the center’s opening and share with the public his personal experience with cancer.

The July 12 grand opening will be free and open to the public from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The center is at 11190 Warner Ave.
