Special Olympics Is Seeking Volunteers
Ventura County Special Olympics needs volunteer softball and bicycling coaches to train athletes for upcoming tournaments. And the only job requirements are enthusiasm and willingness to help.
The softball team will begin practices Saturday, continuing weekly from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at Point Mugu.
The tournament is Aug. 30 in Thousand Oaks.
Bob Martin, area director of the Special Olympics, requests that coaches attend at least six practices in addition to the all-day tournament.
Bicycling is a new program that will begin later this month.
Competitors need to learn basic techniques in riding and mechanics before participating in a time-trial tournament on Sept. 14.
To sign up or for more information, contact Martin at 654-7787.
