Council OKs ‘Living Wage’ Measure for City Workers
- Share via
The West Hollywood City Council has unanimously approved establishment of an ordinance requiring the city and its contractors to pay employees a “living wage.”
A spokeswoman for Councilman Paul Koretz said the city attorney will draft an ordinance based on the proposal, originally introduced by Koretz in 1996. It is to require a minimum wage of $8.50 per hour for employees without health care benefits, or $7.25 an hour with a $1.25-per-hour health care contribution provided by the employer.
Employees will also receive one day off with pay per month under the new ordinance.
