Motorcyclist Dies in Anaheim Collision

ANAHEIM — A motorcyclist died early Saturday after colliding with a Jeep Grand Cherokee on a downtown Anaheim street.
Franklin John Shutter, 54, was thrown to the ground when his motorcycle was struck by the front fender of a Jeep making a left turn in front of him, police said. The collision occurred about 8:40 p.m. Friday on East Vermont Avenue near East Street. Shutter, who suffered major injuries to his legs and feet and also had internal injuries, was taken by paramedics to UCI Medical Center in Orange. Hospital officials said he died about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police said Shutter was dressed in sandals and shorts. Lt. Jack Parra said Shutter was wearing a helmet.
Anaheim police said they are investigating the incident. They have not filed charges against the driver of the Jeep, Glenn Robert Drayer, 49. Additional information about the victim and the driver was not available.
