Doing Business in Anaheim

* Re: “Eyeing an Eyesore, June 26: I was on hand a few months ago when Concerned Citizens of West Anaheim tried to stop the opening of a nude bar in the blighted West Anaheim area.

Although more than 200 citizens showed up to protest the granting of a license for such an establishment, it was granted anyway. Apparently the long-term residents of Anaheim don’t count as much as the “civil rights” of pornographers.

Now there is another attempt by former Councilman Frank Feldhaus and community groups to turn our neighborhood around.

The current trend of allowing any and all criminal activity equal protection to the detriment of the community will certainly derail any plan for revitalization of any part of Anaheim not connected with Disneyland or Anaheim Hills.

The voices of those who must daily live and do business in gang-infested, crime-filled neighborhoods are not heard and will continue to be ignored as long as City Hall only cares about what is best for Disney.

Until Anaheim decides to treat all its citizens equally, the city will continue to attract panhandlers, junkies, prostitutes, gangs, bars and blight.
