$200,000 Allocated for Clean Air Projects

Share

County air quality officials are looking to dole out about $200,000 for projects that reduce air pollution.

The Air Pollution Control Board approved the funding for the annual grant program Tuesday. The money comes from vehicle registration fees. Officials will consider projects that prove to reduce car emissions, trips or miles traveled.

Last year, several public agencies and private businesses won grants for their proposals. The projects included replacing diesel buses and garbage trucks with vehicles that run on compressed natural gas, as well as reimbursing public agencies and private firms for part of the cost to start electric vehicle programs.
