Boy, 8, Hit and Killed Running Into Street
An 8-year-old Fullerton boy who darted into the street was struck by a car and killed Friday, police said.
Armando Ibarra apparently was returning home from a nearby playground about 2:30 p.m. when a car traveling west on East Commonwealth Avenue struck the boy near the intersection of South Lillie Avenue.
Though the investigation is ongoing, police said it doesn’t appear that the driver was speeding or violating traffic laws.
“It seems to be an unfortunate case of an 8-year-old running into the street,” Fullerton Police Lt. Tony Hernandez said.
The driver immediately stopped to check on the child, Hernandez said. A police sergeant in the area called paramedics, who took the boy to St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton. The boy suffered multiple injuries, police said.
