Los Angeles police said a 3-year-old boy is lucky to be alive after he accidentally shot himself Sunday at his parent’s home in Southwest Los Angeles.
The boy, whose name was not released, grazed himself in the arm and leg while playing with a gun he found at his home in the 5800 block of South Van Ness Avenue, investigators said.
The toddler was treated at a hospital and released, said Los Angeles Police Department Det. Matt Mahoney.
In a separate incident Sunday, a 3-year-old boy was killed by his 4-year-old brother with a handgun found in their home in a Sacramento suburb.
Mahoney, the detective investigating the Los Angeles shooting, advised gun owners: “If you can’t control your guns, don’t have one.”
