From Associated Press

Jeff Kent’s two-run homer in the seventh inning, his second of the game, gave the Giants the lead and J.T. Snow added a three-run shot later in the inning as the Giants defeated the Phillies, 8-5, Tuesday night.

Trailing, 4-3, with two outs and none on in the seventh, the Giants started their rally when Phillie left-hander Matt Beech walked Barry Bonds on four pitches.

Jerry Spradlin (1-6) replaced Beech and gave up Kent’s go-ahead homer, his 22nd of the season and 100th of his career.

Singles by Mark Lewis and Stan Javier set up Snow’s homer, his 14th, as Spradlin failed to retire any of the four batters he faced.

Mark Gardner (11-4) won his third consecutive decision, giving up four runs on seven hits in seven innings, with no walks and six strikeouts. Beech left without a decision, still winless (0-5) in 12 starts this season.
