JetHawk Pitchers Stymie San Jose Again
For the third night in a row, the Lancaster JetHawks used their arms, not their bats to defeat the San Jose Giants.
The JetHawks beat the Giants, 7-1, in front of 4,088 at Lancaster Municipal Stadium and completed a three-game sweep. It was the fifth sweep of the season and the fourth in the second half for Lancaster (57-51), which is 24-14 since the all-star break.
Left-hander Jason Bond (2-6) allowed one unearned run in 5 1/3 innings. Relievers Rafael Rivera and Denny Bonilla finished up, allowing two hits the rest of the way.
Joe Mathis was three-for-four with a triple and a run batted in, and Cirilo Cruz hit his first professional home run for the JetHawks, a two-run shot.
