If Baseball Is Dead, Why Kill Soccer Too?

Share

For months, the newspapers and TV stations report how baseball is losing interest among sports fans and especially the youth. Yet, this last two weeks, the media write three, four pages of stories each day and give five minutes during the sports news each night about the World Series.

Last Sunday, The Times questioned if soccer can ever make it in America. Yet, the last two weeks, the media never mentioned once the Major League Soccer championship game between Washington and Colorado. Due to the media coverage, everybody knew that the World Series was on. Due to the media coverage, nobody knew the MLS championship game was on.

I am sure the media will report that nobody is interested in soccer because nobody watched the final game. Is it just me, or is something strange here?
