Concert at Church to Benefit Comatose Teen

A Newport Beach teen badly injured in a serious car crash will be the guest speaker at a benefit concert tonight for another youth left comatose after his own accident.

Amanda Arthur, the Newport Harbor High School cheerleader who continues to recover from a crash in May that killed a classmate and left her in a coma for months, will speak on behalf of Trevor Hodges, 16, of Tustin, who was a fellow patient at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.

Hodges, an honor student at Tustin High School, sustained head injuries when he lost control and crashed his restored 1970 Chevrolet Camaro.

The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Calvary Church Santa Ana, 1010 N. Tustin Ave.

The event features gospel group Basix, local rhythm and blues band Sarah Laughing and evangelist Raul Reis.

The fund-raiser will help offset Hodges’ medical bills.

A $20 donation is suggested.
