MISSION VIEJO — Heritage Christian lost three players to injury Friday night and then lost a Victory League game to Capistrano Valley Christian, 47-6, at Saddleback College.
Two of the three injured Patriots were taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center. Both first- and second-string quarterbacks Bryan Hancock and Chris Myrtle left the game and ended up in the hospital. Myrtle suffered from a slight concussion and was released Friday night, but Hancock, who collapsed while on the bench as the second half began, will be held for observation and tests.
The Eagles (4-5, 3-1) capitalized on four first-half turnovers by Heritage Christian (3-5, 2-3) en route to a 27-0 halftime lead.
Ryan Allen did a little bit of everything for Capistrano Valley Christian. He opened the scoring with a 58-yard burst up the middle, had an interception return of 40 yards for a score and caught a 74-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jamie Tellier.
