It’s Another Routine Loss

Although the Clippers are off to their worst start since losing their first 16 games in 1994, Coach Bill Fitch isn’t about to panic.

Fitch, who has lost more games than any other NBA coach, hasn’t changed the team’s routine to get the Clippers out of their slump.

Fitch, who rarely holds shootarounds after back-to-back games, stuck to his routine before Wednesday night’s 122-113 loss to the Miami Heat, holding a meeting at the hotel instead of a practice.

“My whole philosophy is that I do things like we’d won our last six games,” Fitch said. “I’m not making any changes in what we do or how we treat each other.

“Some of the [[player’s] minutes may go down, but that’s based on the [last] ballgame. Like I tell them, you never know who’s going to bail us out of it. It may be somebody who hasn’t made a basket all year.”

Swingman Lorenzen Wright, who was questionable after spraining his right ankle Tuesday against Orlando, had 11 points, eight rebounds, three steals and four blocked shots against the Heat.

“Oh to be young again,” Fitch said as he watched Wright warm up before the game. “He’s moving around like he never had an injury.”

Pooh Richardson, who lost his job as the Clippers’ starting point guard to Darrick Martin a month into last season, had his best game of the season, getting a season-high 15 assists in 33 minutes.

Martin played only seven minutes, getting no points and one assist.
