PREP FOOTBALL GAMES AT A GLANCE
Newport Harbor (8-2) vs. Villa Park (6-3-1)
7:30 P.M. FRIDAY EL MODENA HIGH
Century League champion Villa Park faces a third-place team no one in the division wants to play. Newport Harbor has reached the section final three times (and the semifinals four times) since 1992. Villa Park’s best hope is to win a low-scoring game. It won’t be easy, since Ryan Wann (21 catches, 16 yards per catch) is doubtful (sprained ankle). Wann also plays linebacker. Newport Harbor’s offense is largely Brett Baker (23 touchdowns, 6.6 average), one of only nine county players to carry the ball more than 200 times. Sailors beware: Villa Park is 8-1 in its last nine first-round games.
