Planners to Debate Church Expansion
The Planning Commission will decide Monday whether to allow a Thousand Oaks church to build an addition of more than 10,000 square feet.
St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church at 1 Church Road has petitioned to build a two-story addition to its 260-seat sanctuary.
The building would house church offices, classrooms and meeting rooms. A new sanctuary is expected to be built afterward.
Church officials said that since a fire gutted their sanctuary in 1995, it has been increasingly difficult to conduct worship services because of a growing number of parishioners.
A new building, they said, would remedy those problems.
The Planning Commission meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.
