STINGRAYS TONIGHT

Share

Opponent--San Jose Lasers.

Time--7:30.

Site--San Jose Arena.

Records--Long Beach 7-6, San Jose 5-10.

Update--Best news for StingRay Coach Maura McHugh is that it’s a road game. Her team plays better away than at home, where they are 2-4. Even better news is the guard play by recent acquisition Niesa Johnson last Tuesday in the 85-80 overtime loss to Portland. Obtained from Atlanta in a trade last week for Nicky McCrimmon and a draft pick, Johnson was acquired for her ballhawking skills and she had two steals in the fourth quarter against Portland. She also scored on a layup with five minutes left and then made a three-point shot. San Jose, tied for last place with Seattle in the Western Division, has been beaten twice by Long Beach. Yolanda Griffith of the StingRays leads the ABL in shooting at 59% and in rebounding with 12.6 a game.
