Robinson Likes His Newest Line

Coach Larry Robinson used center Ray Ferraro and wingers Craig Johnson and Steve McKenna as the Kings’ checking line against New Jersey Saturday night at the Forum.

Robinson said he was pleased with the effort from the line in the Kings’ 2-2 tie against St. Louis and decided to keep the trio together to face the Devils’ top scoring lines, centered by Doug Gilmour and Bobby Holik.

“I thought that they did a great job checking the [Brett] Hull line,” Robinson said after they helped hold Hull without a goal. “Ray did a great job on faceoffs and the line provided a lot of energy.” *

Right wing Sandy Moger, who missed the last two games with a rib injury, was back in the lineup against the Devils. Russ Courtnall, who had played in six consecutive games, was a healthy scratch along with defenseman Doug Zmolek and forwards Roman Vopat and Donald MacLean. *

Ferraro and his wife, Tracey, will receive a “Special Visionary Award” today at the Tuesday’s Child Grace Awards at the House of Blues. Tuesday’s Child, an organization that assists children with AIDS and their families, will honor Ferraro for donating money for each point he scored last season. . . . The Kings will officially unveil the final design for the new downtown arena on Monday at 11:45 at the North Hall of the Convention Center, the future site of the $300-million project.
